Proposed EMS Tax

Proposed EMS Tax for Hatboro

On Monday, December 17th, Borough Council will consider an EMS Tax proposed by Second Alarmers Rescue Squad. SARS is proposing a 0.12 mills EMS Tax beginning in 2019, which would result in an average cost of $18.00 per household. All funds generated through this tax are allocated directly to Second Alarmers to help keep their operations running smoothly. Borough Council wants to make sure their decision accurately reflects the desires of Hatboro taxpayers and is looking for feedback from our residents. Are you in favor of an EMS Tax in Hatboro? Email Borough Council with your opinions before Monday, December 17th to have your voice heard.

Aqua Water Main Replacement Project

Aqua Water Main Replacement Project to begin week of November 12, 2018

Beginning the week of November 12, 2018, Aqua will begin a water main replacement project on Moreboro Road (from Crooked Billet & Warren Rd.), Warren Road (between Moreboro & Continental), and Continental Road (between Horsham & Loller). Construction will take place weekdays between 7 AM and 3:30 PM. During this time, access will be provided for emergency services, mail, school buses, and trash services. Residents will have access to their properties, but at times may need to enter from a different direction due to changing work zones.

All residents affected will be notified at least 24 hours in advance of a scheduled shutdown and construction crews will work quickly to minimize periods without service. This project will increase reliability in the area and is expected for final completion in January of 2019.

Questions or concerns about this project can be directed to Mike Staerk at Aqua America at 215-659-2505 ext. 56005.

Hatboro Police Department K-9 Initiative

Hatboro Police Department K-9 Initiative

The Hatboro Police Department is partnering with Elm Street Hatboro & Hatboro Federal Savings; we are seeking assistance to start our first K9 Unit.  HPD is trying to raise approximately $40,000 through a “Go Fund Me” page by February 2019.  The Hatboro K9 Unit is being completely funded by private donations.  We are attempting to start this unit without any additional burden to the tax payers.  That means we need a lot of help from a lot of generous people like you!

A Police K9 Unit joins the local community with the police department in an effort to increase officer safety, add tracking abilities to locate missing and endangered persons in a timely manner, solve crimes more effectively, and discourage criminal activity.  The addition of a K9 Unit to the Hatboro Police Department broadens our capabilities of service to make Hatboro a safer community.  A K9 also serves as ambassador to strengthen public relations between the community and local law enforcement.

A K9 unit will not only help the community of Hatboro but also assist Montgomery County with drug enforcement, locating missing persons, and the apprehension on wanted subjects. Thank you for your support!
